Project Overview
Blackburn & Co. Ltd was commissioned by a valued repeat client to deliver a comprehensive package of architectural metalwork for a prestigious property located in Mayfair. The project required a high level of craftsmanship, attention to historic detail, and coordination across multiple elements within the building.
Given the prominence of the location and the client’s expectations, all works were carried out to the highest standard, balancing traditional aesthetics with modern performance requirements.
Scope of Works
Our scope included the design, fabrication, and installation of:
- Railings across three different levels
- Window guarding to the front, rear, and light well
- Bespoke fireplace cladding
- Structural steel to the top of the lift shaft
- Internal and external handrails
- A bespoke metal sign
- Various cladding elements to the pergola structure
Design & Fabrication
The railings and window guarding were carefully designed to reflect the historic character of the surrounding area, ensuring the finished appearance sat comfortably within the Mayfair streetscape. Rather than powder coating, these elements were finished using Hammerite paint, selected to achieve a more traditional aesthetic while still offering durability and protection.
All bespoke elements, including the fireplace cladding and signage, were fabricated in-house to meet the project’s exact design and dimensional requirements.
Installation & Outcome
The project required close coordination with the wider project team to ensure smooth installation across multiple levels and structural interfaces. Our experienced site team delivered the works efficiently while maintaining the high-quality finish expected for a property of this calibre.
The completed metalwork successfully combines structural integrity, refined detailing, and a finish that respects the building’s historic context. The client was extremely pleased with the outcome, further strengthening our ongoing relationship.
